Der Coach

Nach vier Wochen freiem Eishockeytraining haben wir jetzt einen Coach bekommen. Der Coach hat eine Glatze und schaut auch sonst ein bisschen aus, wie ein Skinhead. Der Coach sagt: „Good Job outthere“ und „I like your attitude on the ice“. Der Coach sagt: „That’s fine, just keep going, we are here to practice“ und „In a few weeks, you’re gonna be a hell of a team.“ Er sagt: „Here’s what you wanna do“ wenn er etwas erklärt und „And then you break out.“ Aber er sagt nicht [aut] er sagt [aout] – Kanadier, was sonst.

Writing Center


Aus der Reihe: Was man für 40.000 Dollar Studiengebühren alles bekommt. An einem US College ist es nicht der/die Prof, der/die eine Arbeit als erstes sieht. An US Colleges gibt es tatsächlich Hilfe beim Verfassen von wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten. Das Writing Center ist weit mehr, als ein besseres Lektoriat. Im Writing Center bekommt man ein Paper tatsächlich analysiert. Sogar mein popeliges 2 Seiten PoWi Paper bekommt da Feedback, das sich gewaschen hat. Senoirs haben normalerweise nicht nur einen wöchentlichen Termin mit ihrem Prof, sondern auch einen mit einem persönlichen Writing Center BetreuerIn. Nicht nur das: Es gibt ExpertInnen nicht nur für jede Zitierschule und für English as a Second Language, sondern auch welche für: Prewriting, Outlining, Organizing, Theses Construction, Argumentation. Natürlich kann man auch für Bewerbungen und Lebensläufe zum Writing Center kommen.
Und wenn man mal einfach so was kreatives geschrieben hat, dann kann man sich dafür von den ExpertInnen für Creative Writing Feedback holen.

In Stanford ist die Sache sogar noch ein bisschen fancyer: Da bekommt man Videofeedback auf Referate.
